WRAS

The European WRAS stands for Water Regulations Advisory Scheme and indicates that product’s conformity with the United Kingdom’s water regulations issued in 1999. The regulations touch on aspects such as prevention of waste, undue consumption, misuse, erroneous measurement or contamination of water.

Ice makers are not only supplied with water, they also drain water back into a city’s water system. To ensure public health and safety, these regulations increased the producer’s responsibility, for example when it comes to materials for fittings, pipes, valves and other components. Manufacturers need to proof and verify that in fact their products do not imply any negative effects, such as contamination, on the water systems.

Ultimately, the objective of WRAS is the protection of public health and it makes manufacturers of products, that come in contact with the public water system accountable.

The following Hoshizaki product series are WRAS certified: IM, FM/CM, DCM & DIM series.
